Gerald Peters Contemporary is pleased to present And Still, We Persevere, a solo exhibition of new works by Patrick Dean Hubbell.

The exhibition of new paintings, works on paper, and large-scale installation continue Hubbell’s ongoing dialogue among Diné indigenous perspective, philosophies, and methodologies and contemporary art modalities. Embracing a variety of material, mediums, and presentation, Hubbell pushes past the generalizations of viewership and spectacle surrounding Indigenous art. Utilizing manufactured painting and drawing mediums, natural materials, and recycled and reclaimed objects, these works investigate the interior and exterior worlds that shape Hubbell practice.

Patrick Dean Hubbell (b. 1986, Diné) received his BFA in 2010 from Arizona State University and his MFA in 2021 from the Art Institute of Chicago. His work has been exhibited nationally and is in many private and public collections including the Denver Art Museum, Denver, CO, the Perez Art Museum, Miami, FL, the Peabody Essex Museum, Salem, MA, and the Addison Gallery of American Art, Andover, MA. In 2017, the artist was awarded a prestigious Pollock-Krasner grant. He is the recipient of the New Artist Society Award (SAIC, 2019) and The James Nelson Raymond Fellowship (SAIC, 2021). He currently lives and works on the Navajo Nation.
