Monty Little (Diné) is an artist working in a range of media with a particular focus in printmaking. A member of the Diné Nation and a war veteran, Little’s expressionistic portraits underscore the theme of displacement in his background and the cultural and psychological disorientation experienced by wartime sufferers in general. Utilizing bold colors and strong geometric patterns drawn from Navajo design, Little partially or fully obscures faces, exploring notions of identity and representation.
